Eka Shloka Sundarakandam
A beautiful single-verse summary of Sundarakanda describing Hanuman’s courage, devotion, and heroic deeds in Lanka.

Dhrutya saagara langhanam hanumato, lanka praveshanam
Tatra ashokavane cha maargana, madhu Sri Janaki darshanam,
Rama kshema nivedanam, vanataru pradhvamsanam, samyuge
Raksha samhaaranam, puri pradaahanam, Ramayane sundaram॥
Meaning
With courage, Hanuman crossed the ocean and entered Lanka.
There, in the Ashoka grove, he searched and found Mother Sita.
He conveyed Lord Rama’s message of well-being to her.
He destroyed the trees in the garden and, in battle, defeated the demons.
He then burned the city of Lanka — this is the beauty of Sundarakanda in the Ramayana.
